“Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions” (Luke 12:15).
The consuming passion of wanting, having, and getting more pushes aside any other competing affections. Materialism is a voracious, unrelenting, altar of worship. Its remedy has nothing to do with finances, but the heart. When transformed from greed to gratitude the heart is content with what it has. Being truly grateful for what you have eliminates all thoughts of what you don’t.
