“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

It is with a renewed zeal that some are embracing an ever-narrowing, elective view of salvation that includes some while excluding others. Sadly, this causes many to pause, wondering that if they are not of the elect is it even worth believing. They read of the life of an apostle Paul or Peter and think, “Yes, I would believe if my life was like theirs but I’m too great a sinner.” The love of God described in this passage, however, and demonstrated to the world, isn’t just for Paul and Peter, or others like them, but sinners like you and me. The Son-sending kind of love demonstrated by God is of an intensity, scope, and magnitude that reaches beyond our limiting and selective imaginations.

“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

For many the excitement of Easter soon gives way to the dread of Monday. Yet, for those who have been clothed with power from on high no day is dreaded or deemed as routine. The greatest testimony we can offer of our belief in the resurrected Christ is to live a resurrected life. Your wardrobe has been prepared and laid out. Get up and get dressed.
