“The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses; therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them” (Matthew 23:2-3).
While many would point to the hypocrisy of others as the reason for their own lack of obedience or disinterest in the things of God, nonetheless, the authority of His Word in directing our lives remains. God will never ask you to offer an accounting for the life of the hypocrite; only your own. In fact, if a hypocrite stands between you and God, it seems the hypocrite has the closer vantage point.
