“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward’” (Exodus 14:15).
It’s hard to imagine a time when praying is actually inappropriate. Crying out to God in prayer, Moses is but delaying the obedient response God is expecting from his people. That the Hebrews are to be delivered from Egypt has been unequivocally mandated by God. It’s a reminder that God’s directives are not given for our prayerful consideration but our obedience. The pretense of praying to know God’s will in matters clearly dictated in his word is but a “spiritualized” form of disobedience.
