A WHALE OF A REMINDER

07032015-Friday

“Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land” (Jonah 2:10).

Though Jonah was both sour in disposition and defiantly disobedient, the whale was not an instrument of punishment but, rather, a vehicle of God’s provision and rescue. What appears to be a biography of Jonah is, in fact, the greater story of his God; a God who redeems not only the most rebellious of Jews but the most pagan of gentiles. The fish story pales in comparison.
