“Now the Lord said to Abram, ‘Go forth…’ so Abram went forth…Abram journeyed on” (Genesis 12:1,4,9).
God’s call is the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives to bring us to that place of initial commitment, to guide us each day in ways that glorify Him, and to sustain us in the most challenging of days. To respond to this call is a path of daring departure from the presumed world of norms and security. We must constantly ask whether the life we live offers a compelling, alternative choice to those around us of how life can be lived, other than just going to church on Sunday. God’s call separates and gives to us a distinctive look.
