“Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16).
I’m convinced that the most effective way to pray for one’s own well-being is to pray for others. Out of our own pain, grief, and fear we become more aware to the presence of those debilitating emotions in the lives of others. From this, the prayers we offer on their behalf becomes balm to our own soul as we embrace the sufficiency of God’s grace we have been praying for others. An outward focus is the surest path to inner healing.
