“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance” (Acts 2:4).
The voice of the church isn’t a responsibility given to some but, rather, to all. The Holy Spirit has empowered us to give utterance to our faith experience. We are equipped to be a vocal community. We can ill-afford to be sidetracked by the question of whether or not speaking in tongues is a legitimate gift for today. The greater issue is whether one can legitimately call themselves Christian and remain silent. Our tongue must speak grace-filled language, embodying the fruit of the Spirit.
