“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace” (John 16:33).
The good news of the gospel, and the proclamation of our faith, is a word of peace. Under the scrutiny of self-examination, every follower of Christ must ask, “Do my actions and words contribute to the message of peace? Or do they perpetuate conflict?” While the communication of Jesus was limited to spoken words, our means of messaging are much broader and far-reaching. Thus, we must consider not only the words we speak but, also, our posts, reposts, tweets, and retweets, and whether or not they accurately portray the teachings of Jesus, or they are but a representation of the popular rhetoric and postulations of political parties. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ can ill-afford to think they are one and the same.
