BEYOND ASPIRATIONS

“for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).

Every athlete aspires to greatness, but only a few are willing to do the work necessary to champion their goal. In the same way, the chase of faith and the pursuit of Christlikeness stumbles most often somewhere between our “want to” and our “willing to.” While noble aspirations may bring about an initial step in the right direction, a steadfast continuation in the path we should go is accomplished only by discipline.
