“…in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:11).

To fully appreciate the resurrection of the dead, it must be understood not only as an eternal state of being, but a radical altering of our present existence. Conversion makes the eternal a present tense reality as the Holy Spirit enables us to experience now the first fruits of what is to come. Of all the things Paul counted as loss (v.4-7), what others would consider desirable assets, Paul viewed the resurrection as a deliverance from the deadness of such earthly holdings.
