“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
Where we look is to be understood in terms of our aim in life. To set your sights on what is visible guarantees only discouragement and depression in the face of life’s challenges. The reason being, all that can be seen is transient, temporal, and cannot stand the test of time. The underlying assumption is that the worth of the object upon which we fix our eyes would first be evaluated and appraised. Faith enables us to see a different reality; an aim undistracted by the present circumstances that pass before our eyes.
