Monday 8.1

“Who alone stretches out the heavens and tramples down the waves of the sea” (Job 9:8).

Throughout scripture the sea represents the deepest fears of humanity, and yet time and time again we find the lordship of God exercising dominion. From the surface of the waters at creation, the covenant with Noah, the parting of the Red Sea, the Hebrews crossing the swollen waters of the river Jordan to claim their land of promise, to Jesus walking on water, we find the needed reminders that assure us of God’s presence. As he tramples the waves, he conquers our fears.
