“But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me’” (Matthew 14:30)!
To view and evaluate life based upon immediate circumstances blinds us to other possibilities. A purely human perspective brings only fear, defeat, and despair; eventually sinking one into the deep, dark waters of hopelessness. Faith, on the other hand, opens our eyes to the unseen, the yet unachieved; giving us the vision to pursue the full capacity of God’s call upon our lives. The accusation against the church—that she lacks faith—is most likely based upon the fact we do so little that requires faith. We flourish as a people of God only when we bound forward by faith instead of tip-toeing carefully by sight.
