“…to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:4).
Having been born again to a living hope (v.3), Peter expands upon the security of the inheritance to be received by all believers. This eternal hope, however, does not alter our present circumstances. If this were so, it would not be hope. Hope does not undo or alter the equation of cause and effect. Reckless decisions will still produce unfavorable results. Hope transcends the brokenness of the natural world and created order. When the present age reaches its conclusion, our incorruptible inheritance awaits us.
