BEING AMAZED

02142017-tuesday

“And they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what happened to him” (Acts 3:10).

It doesn’t matter what church, but to hear described any church it usually sounds like this: “It is a beautiful church.” “It’s a nice church.” “It’s a growing church.” “It’s a friendly church.” Yet, when was the last time you heard of someone being filled with amazement because of the work of the church. The healing of a lame beggar stirred within the religious community something that had long ago died – wonder and amazement. What makes any church amazing isn’t the cultural commendations it receives but the redeeming work it performs. It is those that seek out, receive, and nurture to spiritual health and vitality the broken lives of humanity that are truly amazing.
