“Because we are members of His body” (Ephesians 5:30).
Besides “family”, another metaphor found in the New Testament to describe the church is that of a “body.” It speaks to both our unity and diversity. Like the human body, the body of Christ is made up of a wide variety of unique parts with unique capabilities; each one working harmoniously in response to how the head leads. For the church, Christ is the head of the body. It’s a matter of both relationship and responsibility.
