“But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5).

The bluntness is intentional. In contrast to those who do not endure sound doctrine and choose, instead, to have their ears tickled by those who tell us what we want to hear, we are to be the bastions of steadfastness — keeping our head, persevering as if taking a hill, engaging the culture for the sake of the gospel, and fulfilling the vow of our faith. We are established pillars in a world of wind blown reeds.
