“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come” (2 Timothy 4:6).
That the life of faith is something to be “poured out” references all the suffering and hardship that is embraced and endured for the cause of Christ. All themes of suffering, however, converge into a theme of succession. Just as Paul’s approaching death required Timothy to step into the gap, no less the same is required of us. With great purpose, we must pour ourselves into the day.
