“For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more” (1 Corinthians 9:19).
Scripture is filled with contradictions — we live by dying; we are exalted by being humble; set free by becoming a slave. While Christ has, indeed, set us free from a great many things — the guilt of sins past, the present tyranny of sin’s power, and the future judgement of sin’s condemnation — we have not been set free from responsibility. Too many flaunt freedom for personal expression when its intention is for Kingdom purposes. Is the exercising of your “freedom” truly winning more, or just turning others off with a confusing message?
