“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This the one on whom seed was sown beside the road” (Matthew 13:19).
The side of the road is the walking path of human traffic. It is receptive to the activity of men but not the activity of God. For such as these, on any issue, their ears are attentive to the learned opinions and informed judgements of men, but they reject any form of counsel from God’s word. While apathy and indifference may characterize many in the life of any congregation, it is never an identifying quality of one born-again in the life of faith.
